WED

Overview:

Women Entrepreneurs Day (WED) is a day on which the work of women entrepreneurs is observed, discussed and celebrated held on the nineteenth of November of each year. The inaugural event was held in New York City at the United Nations, with additional events being held simultaneously in several other countries.

It currently has over 300 Ambassadors around the world and has ignited business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, dignitaries, innovators, and change makers to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, Ms. Sofana Dahlan served as WED's Ambassador from 2014 to 2016 and conducted various activities to raise awareness and increase engagement.

Objectives:

  • Provide Saudi women with access to a global network of female business owners, entrepreneurs and change-makers who support and believe in empowering women financially

  • Collaborate with young aspiring entrepreneurs and SMEs owned or managed by female entrepreneurs. Successfully established a partnership with Global Shapers Jeddah

  • Form strategic partnerships with several local and regional stakeholders in order to ensure WED’s sustainability and viability in Saudi Arabia for the upcoming years
